Big night out

I was really pleased with the amount of people that turned up to support the night. Again it was another fantastic night with plenty of entertainment from all involved. Special thanks go to

  • Carolynne
  • Jet Sommers
  • Tony Lord
  • Tony Marco
Without these people we wouldn't have a Big Night Out. Money raised on the evening was £398 plus a big thank you to Mr Bob Walsh for his generous donations including the champagne auction which he won.

Mother and toddler group

We are thinking of starting a mother and toddler group on a regular basis. If you are interested in coming along or can help in any way, please contact the secretary Mrs S. Hull.

If we don’t try we will never know.

T-shirt competition winner

We would like to thank all the people that entered. It was a difficult decision but we finally came up with a winner. Congratulations go to katrina Hartley.

Her design was just the thing we were looking for. It was simple to the point and it will be easy to transfer to a t-shirt.

Adventures in a wheelchair
(now possible)
By Susan Lamb

On Monday May 8th, I set off in my wheelchair at 9:30 am, I caught the wheelchair accessible bus to town. I then caught a bus to Keighley from Bradford Interchange. The bus had an electronic ramp, so the driver did not have to leave his cab. Not used the layout of the bus, it took a little longer than usual to get my wheelchair in place.

At Keighley I caught a bus to Skipton, I couldn't go on a direct route as the bus was not accessible. The bus I caught went round Sutton and Connelly. It was a lovely run. The driver was helpful and made sure he was parked up to the kerb so it was easy to alight the bus. I arrived in Skipton at 12:00pm where I had lunch. I shared a table with a lady from Clithero, we had a nice time.

I caught a train to Giggleswick and paid half the standard return fare (as I was travelling in my wheelchair) and a 35p fare from Steeton and Silsden to Bradford. With my metro permit. Giggleswick is about a mile from the station, I managed to walk about half a mile using my duel control on the electric wheelchair and a stick. People in the village were very friendly. I caught the train back from settle to Bradford changing at Skipton. I had fish and chips before catching the bus to the pub where I met up with my husband and we had a drink. Then we got a bus home. There was no charge for any bus fare using my disabled metro permit. All in all a good day out.
